If you want trouble free, and want a silvery look - AFS is now selling polished wheels with a clear coat on top of them. They will look like most other current GM polished wheels - say on a Yukon, or Grand Prix, or similar. Unfortunately, they started it after I got mine.
Here are the trade offs (as far as I can tell)
Polish - if they arent coated - you have to work *semi* hard to keep them polished. Basically, they will look almost directly proportional to the work you put into them
Chrome - Simple maintenance, wash with water, a light detergent, and then dry them off really well. Problem - chrome can chip off, or worse flake off. Most have a 3 year warranty. You just have to check around.
I didnt want to take the chance, so I went with polished. Let someone else here hop on and give better "pros" vs the "cons" I listed.
It also matters what color your car is. Seriously. Chrome will look better on some (black for example) than on others....i.e. I dont think bright chrome looks quite right on white.
The difference is suttle, but who cares what we think - it is up to you.
I think the silver are better because the look stock since teh ZR1 had them. The chromed wheels look like an aftermarket add on, but they still look nice... Just my 2 Cents though.
I have solid aluminum wheels .. with no clear coat and it's really hard keeping them looking good. Takes a lot of meguiar's aluminum polish for them to look good.

:yesnod: :yesnod: Just can't see adding chrome to a car that has none on it to begin with.....
