Anyone out there can tell me what the cost was for their Hotcam installation was labor wise? Also any recommendations for shop to do work in New York / Westchester or Dutchess County area? Thanks.
Part #24502586; Specs are 218/228 duration @.05" lift, 0525"/525" lift, Lobe separation is 112, RPM range is 1500-6000. BTW the Kit # is 12480002 at a delivered price of $654.62 (includes aluminum 1.6 rockers, valve seats and retainers)
When you start that project you may want to consider some additional sweet mods while you have everything torn down,, ie. port matching.. electric water pump,, and you may want to go with a bit more cam. Your puter will need a new program so you may as well add some more things and get it programmed one time.
The hot cam is fairly mild, but it makes some pretty good power. While you are into it, if you install an electric water pump, you can upgrade to a much better timing set. Double roller, or timing gear, etc.
While you're into it you might as well put top notch components back.
HP and TQ are in the sig, that's an LT1 with stock heads and intake. The LT4 should easily top these numbers. It's a very good cam for the money. Throw a set of ported heads and intake on there and you're looking at close to 400 hp from a VERY streetable cam.
Good luck. I can't help on installation prices because a friend and I did mine.
I've heard that some report that the HotCam caused misfire codes to set at idle. Some minor PCM programming may be necesarry to raise the idle slightly and get rid of the codes.

Doesn't seem to be a problem with the LT4 computer. We are running the stock PCM in my Dad's LT4 with hot cam, and not a code has been set in the year since it's been installed. Idles great too.
