Default Mods,...Round 1...

Ok,...just picked up my first Vette last week. I've got a few ideas.

Right now the car is BONE stock with a freshly rebuilt motor, about 600miles on it.

I've already arranged to buy a B&B TriFlo echaust from a friend.
Planning to cut the air lid and install a K&N filter.
Disable the CAGS.
Do the plugs & wires. (Which are best? I've read either stock or NGK TR5's on the plugs,...dunno on the wires)
Probably make the cats a little more "free flowing" ;)
Get a 160* stat, and borrow a Programmer to lower the fan turn on temps.

Any other suggestions? I'm not looking to spend a lot of $$,...just do simple little bolt on stuff. No nitrous, cams, heads, intakes for now. Do the LT-1's have roller rockers stock? What's the ratio on the stock rockers? What about swapping on an aftermarket set of roller rockers with a little more ratio to get a little more lift out of the cam?

So far thats about it. Here's my questions....
At what level mods will these cars actually benifit noticeably with a chip change? Who makes the best for a 6spd LT-1 car? (yes I know I prolly just opened up a HUGE can of worms :D )
What about gears? Do the LT-1 cars need them? Do the really benifit from them any? A bud of mine has a 93 ZR-1,...he swapped to 4.09's,...but after having them a while said he's going back to the stock ratio,...which is 3.45 right? He said he really doesn't think the gears gave him anything,...but we are talking about two radically different motors. Any of you out there running more gear,...what are your 6th gear rpm's at say 80mph?

Thanks.

Too bad you didn't get to it 600 miles ago :jester. Do you know what they put in with the rebuild?

Don't bother with the chip unless you've got your other mods on there first. If you put different gear on and/or want your fans on earlier, you can go ahead and get one.

With the 6spd, you can go to 4.09's and you will benefit. You've got 2 over drives, so don't worry about your final speed :). Gears will always help you out unless you use it as a daily driver and/or highway drive a lot. Then you don't want the top.

The exhaust system and free flowing cats is good. without more mods a chip would be a waste of money. K+N with a cut lid is good, i have one of each i'll let go cheap! a set of 3.73 gears and some Comp Cam magnum roller tip 1.6 rockers will help.

Some guys are using Taylor wires, I don't have any experience with them myself.

My normal e-mail is down right now.....but shoot me an e-mail at boostedta@yahoo.com and let me know how much you'd take for the K&N filter. Where in the Atlanta area are you? I've got a buddy who lives in Canton and works off of Windy Hill Road,...he could come by and get the filter for me. He owes me some money anyway....hehee... Just let me know.

I have Taylor wires on mine and like them from http://www.racenet.net Another great fairly low buck mod is a shifter. The Hurst is the way to go.

The rockers are stamped 1.5 from the factory not roller rockers. The LT4s have 1.6 roller rockers.
