Default Lt1 valve cover gasket ?

My mind fell asleep while getting parts and for about 2 hours after, I got all the gaskets except the valve covers and I got the parts all off and it hit me.
I forgot to get the valve cover gaskets, so the question is, can I use gasket maker to make gaskets until I get new gaskets. I REALLY do not want to walk 10 miles each way to get gaskets.

Nope, it will leak. Do you still have the old gaskets?

DO a search for my old posts, I have the old style valve covers and the part number most of the auto parts places will come up with is for the newer style covers. My old posts will have the right Felpro part number.

I'd bet "The Right Stuff" would seal it up... However, good luck on ever removing them again.

If you still have the old gaskets they CAN be re-used if they weren't damaged when removed. I re-used the old ones last summer when I changed heads, cam, etc., on my son's 96 LT1.

I bought new ones, Fel-Pro's - but they were about two inches too long for some odd reason. Reading posts on other forums I found others had the same "too long" issue.

Anyway, I took a chance that the old ones would seal and they did and continue to.

However, I don't have any confidence in a gasket sealant doing the job.
