Default She won't start

I bought my car in North Carolina from my brother and he had it for 10 years and put 6000 miles on it. When I got it home it would start every day and then if it sat for two days it wouldn't start unless i primed it and then it would start for the whole day. I had the fuel filter changed because it was plugged and now it will start for one day and not the next. I hear the fuel pump running so I was told to change the fuel pump relay and when i did that it started right up without priming and I thought my problem was over, until the next day and it wouldn't start.
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do next? I had someone tell me that it might be the ICM and that is ok but I don't know what that is,obviously I'm not a mechanic.

I found out there are 2 fuel pump relays, put the other one in and it started. Hopefully it will start tomorrow.

It didn't start I am thinking there must be a short. Although the fuel pump is running.

Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge. That would be my beginning point.

My mechanic said he would come out, what should that pressure be?

Fuel pressure should be around 38-45psi, it should hold pressure after you turn the key off. If it doesn't, pull the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator & reprime the system, no fuel should be present at the regulator connection. Another possiability is injectors leaking down or a cracked hose at the fuel pump connection(in the gas tank).

If you had a short, a fuse would be blown and that circuit would not function until you replaced the fuse.
