Default Targa Dimension problem... car in wreck??? Need input

I've had my 96 CE for a little bit now and noticed that my tops (both the solid and lexon) seem to rub the "a" piller (windshield frame) corner on the drivers side. The part I'm talking about is the metal "ear" or tab that is on each side of the front of the roof panel. When I looked at the passenger side, there was about 1/4 to 1/2" clearance between this ear and the "a" pilalr there. I measured the distance between the "a" and "b" pillars and sure enought there seems to be a 1/4" difference between the sides. The tops seem to fit OK and the bolt holes line up, and the car tracks fine. But I was wondering if anyone else has ever noticed a discrepancy between the drivers and pass side of their car..?? I bought the car used and it appeared to be in great shape. I took it to a chevy dealer and had them give it a once over to see if there were any problems and they found none (in fact they also said the car was in great shape)... I also called chevy cust serv to get a lowdown on warranty work and found out that the car has gone through a few lexon tops. My current one is developing cracks as well...

If the car was in an accident (I would figure it would have to be pretty major to affect this dimension) is there any way to tell?? Can I tell if the windshield has been replaced?? Could it jsut be a tolerance stack issue?? Is there anything I can do to fix it without opening a bigger can of worms like leaks and squeaks?? I'm interested to hear any experiences...

Thankx!! Mike
