.....It's been a while!...Have a burned out bulb in my 88 dash cluster...I thought somewhere that there was an inexpensive replacement/drop-in bulb someone had come across as a replacement for same......
......Anyone have that number handy and is it the SAME brightness as the original?......THANKS!
Nope, no low cost replacement. 882 is the lamp number. I have read here that later C4's used a different lamp that is xenon instead of quartz halogen and is cheaper and the same pins but is too long to allow the silver reflectors to seat. I recommend installing the bulb that it was designed for.

GE 882 is the OEM bulb and you can get them at NAPA and I'm sure most all of the auto part stores.
My suggestion is that when you get the dash panel out and disassembled, replace all four bulbs while you are at it. I replaced a single burned out bulb once and less than a month later another one went out. They are a little expensive, but the new bulbs have a pretty long life so you won't have to do it again for quite a while.
