Default Clutch master topping off question

I went to pull the car(1994) out for the first time this year and the clutch did not seem to be working properly. It basically went all the way to the floor. Well after some searching I found helpful threads and finally found the clutch master.

After taking off the cap I take out the little cup thing and notice it has fluid in it so I pour it out and it seems to be water. Well I notice I need to add some fluid so I go get some o'rileys dot3 brake fluid and pour some in and have my little helper pump the clutch and it now seems full. I did see some bubbles while we were pumping the clutch so I replaced the little cup, which then overflowed the extra fluid and all seems to be working again.

My question is there anything else I need to do?

If it all seems to work like it should, then you are good to go. If you want to be a little mor thorough, now would be a good time to flush the system and make sure all the fluid is fresh. If it was low, do you have any idea where the fluid went? Just age? Something else?

Hey Thomas,

I have no idea where it sent, I really don't have a puddle under the car. I have a few drips here and there, but it's like it just disappeared. I did the check at the floor on the drivers side and it's not there either. I agree a good time to flush and replace as it was pretty dark fluid.

Ahh you have the "car sits for a long time, no clutch fluid" issue.

Check the color of the fluid in a couple of days. If its black you need to do a full flush and check the color a few days after that. The seals in the master and slave deteriorate after time. Mine has the same problem, I'm going to replace the master & slave when I do my clutch in a few weeks.
