Default Lifters ?

What is involved in swapping out the Lifters?

2nd, this is a stock engine, so what are the best lifters for it and should I readjust the valve lash or should it be ok.

To swap lifters you'll need to remove the intake manifold, valve covers, rocker arms, and pushrods. The lifters are then just slid out with your hand. Grab one and pull up.

Installing new lifters is the reverse of that, but the lifter preload (not valve lash - which applies to solid cams not hydraulics) must be reset - and that's where a lot of guys get tripped up.

When the rockers/pushrods are removed, the existing preload settings are lost and has to be re-set after the new lifters are installed.

There are differing views on which new lifters are "best". A lot of guys go with GM LS7s, many go with Morels, still others like those from the cam companies, like those offered by CompCams, etc. If I had to replace lifters, I'd go with Comp's.

Let us know when you get to the point of setting the preload; you're going to need help in doing that.

This started as a simple headgasket replacement, starting to get out of hand.
I am going to order the Eglin's, have had their parts before and w/good luck.
Now am I going to need help as in someone telling how to do this or help as in needing 2 people?

Elgin's are the cheapest option for sure. Don't see anyone posting about using those. The GM's are the most common.

Jake already told you the basic r/r procedure. He's also posted how to adjust your lash after reinstall (several times). Others have also posted on this.

Search is your friend. (and I suspect "lash" would be a pretty good term to look for.)
