Default Cross-Fire Help

I have an 84 with the cross fire and am wondering how the injectors should be when it starts. I finally got it so that the fuel pump runs the way it should. Now the rear Injector pulses fuel. The front one does not. Is this correct for starting? I would think both should shoot fuel. I have had the injectors out and cleaned them and replaced everything gasket and 0-rings. I also know they both work because I can jumper a ground to them and make them shoot continuously if I want to. I am thinking it is a ground issue to the front injector?

Sounds like the ECM is not grounding the front injector. Could be a bad connection, the wiring or the ECM. You'll need a wiring diagram to further diagnose the problem.

I've got the same car and its not been on the road for about 15 years. I had it running about 6 months ago but I let it sit too long again and I can't get it started. Should I be able to hear the fuel pump running when I turn the key on?

Thanks for your help

Bryan

Or just crank it and see if you see the injectors spray.

I have and 84 crossfire myself. Nice spray pattern from both and no drips when starting either. Thats how it should be. Make sure you put those injectors back in exactly how you removed them. They are not to be swapped. There is one for the front and one for the back and not interchangeable.

Although ^that^ is technically correct, it won't matter if you do swap them. Car will still start and run fine.

I hear nothing when I turn the key on mine.

It starts with a few turns of the starter....not like I would like however.

You should hear the pump run for a couple seconds, when you turn the key on.

You can verify if you throw a gauge on it. If it's not priming, then you will see extended crank time, as the pump won't run until you build oil pressure, and activate the secondary fuel pump circuit.

My CFI car cold, would start with about 3 seconds of crank time. Warm, it was always runnning by the time the starter gear hit the flywheel.

I must definitely have a bad fuel pump or connection. I have no spray coming from the injectors after repeated cranks. At least one of the injectors are new and the other one has been cleaned. I've just let it sit too long. Its still waiting its turn on a restore.
