Default Going turbo.....

Well after struggling for years with the Procharger, took the decision to go turbocharged.

Had bought Reichard pulleys....no success.
Bought Bruce's cog setup....gave good results, but couldn't get a belt to last one pass. I saw 18psi of boost with it, 650rwhp and almost 800lbs/ft torque.
Well now I'm going to try a turbo setup. Got a Garrett GT4276 turbo. All the piping on the hot side are ready. On the cold side it is almost finished. I'm going to run the Procharger intercooler and the Procharger race-blowoff valve.

Hoping to get her dynoed by next week for the first race of the season.

Well, finally I got the chens to report on the progress of the turbo build.

About two weeks ago we dynoed the car and the results were good. It made 525rwhp(on a DynoDinamics dyno) @12psi of boost. This dyno reads about 15% lower than a DynoJet dyno, so it's about 600rwhp.
We couldn't increase the boost since the injectors were maxed out already.

The next step is to go with 1600cc injectors, change the map sensor for 4bar and eliminate the optispark.

I have some vid...but they are large files. I'll try later to post some....

Last sunday I went to the track to test the new setup. Well...not dissapointed. Made only one pass. I couldn't launch the car on the transbrake cause there was no traction at all. So...with an easy launch, spinning the tires and shifting 2nd to soon, it went 10.75@127mph....

Sweet!

I'm looking at what funding I have available, I'd really like to start in on mine.

Maybe I should start selling my body for mod money.

Any reason you chose such a large (physical size) turbo? Did you have it lying around? Any info on the motor build (heads/cam/etc.)?

I ask because I have a customer with a 96z28 that made 574rwhp/571rwtq @ 11psi on a load bearing dyno (dynapack) with the following:

355ci
Log Manifold with TC76 (nice little 76mm turbo... easy to package)
Ported stock castings (not a big name porter)
22x/23x cam
M6 w/4.10's

He ran 108mph in the 1/8, then his clutch slipped in 3rd.

I would have expected a little more power if you have a decent motor. Nice results nonetheless!
