Default Helpful tips for Rear Bumper removal?

I guess I'm gonna take of my rear bumper to do a re-paint on it. I can see that there are lots of small fasteners all the way around on the inside. What's the hot tip to get this off? Just take off license plate & lights to get access? It looks kinda like a big hassle, is it that bad?

That's about it. Remove the tag and tail lights, than all of the bolts around the perimeter of the bumper.

What I did was reach up from under the car and removed the two bolts holding the stop light lens in. Then you can reach in the hole and take out the perimeter bolts.

I just did this 3 week ago. On my 89:

1. Jack up the rear.
2. Take off the tires (23mm or 22mm can't remember getting old)
3. Wheel well cover (10mm & 20 torx)
4. Take out the antenna (Good time to replace it). (10mm + Philips)
5. Start unbolting the sides. (10mm)
6. Removed the side lights. (10mm)
7. Remove License plate and reverse tail lights.(10mm)
8. Remove gas cap door. (Philips)
9. I took out the center rear lights first then the outer. (10mm)
10. Unbolt the back part (8mm or 7mm can't remember...)
11. There are two bolts under the bumper (Near the spair tire)
12. Should pull off at this point...

You should have scraped up arms by now.

I replaced mine with a 93. (Its eazy to take off the rear bumper now due to the placement of the lamps)
