Default 85' Engine Swap

Hey Guys, new to the forum and the vette scene. This project is my first time dealing with a Corvette or even doing a swap all together. I purchased a 1985 L98. Brought it home today alone with a 1986 computer (couldn't find a after market harness for the 85) Have a tone of questions. Hope to get a little help. First two right off the bat, Can you remove the a/c unit and run the engine without it? or do you just not hook it up? Also wanted to know what the hoses are going into the exhaust manifold and if you have to run then with headers? Any info on either subject would be great... Even very basic info, I'm a newbie to the whole mechanics of vehicles... thanks

Air injection, if you do the A/c delete as shown above you delete the air pump and all the plumbing as well

A pic is worth a 1000 words
You swap the Corvette water pump for a std rotation one and run a shorter belt .Part #'s for swap included in link.

As SHOWN in pics, anything to do with A/c is deleted and th e Alt becomes the belt tension adjustment point like on a old style setup

Also was told if you run a kit like this one that you eliminate the risk of damage to your alternator because you keep the bracket that attaches to the front?

If you are going to trouble of deleting the A/c you may as well put $$ from now unneeded air pump eliminator towards new water pump

All that does is delete the AIR pump and replace it with a pulley so you can keep stock belt
A/c compressor is on other side of engine

By the sounds of it the 1982 rotation pump and adjustment rod is the way to go. Says you need the short Block to hub measurement style pump... Have any clue what that size is? Or how to tell when you go to purchase one?

Just one more question, the standard rotation water pump i'm guess turns the opposite direction then the late 80's pumps? And what the advantage? Thanks again
