Default Clicking noise when using clutch

Hi everyone. I have a 1996 LT4 convertible I just purchased in November. It's my first Vette. Now that the weather is cooperating I have been able to get it out. The problem is I noticed when I push the cluth in all the way there is a clicking type noise. If I release the clutch a little it stops. I do not have any shifting problems yet. Any ideas? Thanks.

It could be a bad throw out bearing but in my opinion this is not likely because it should make a noise from slight engagment to full engagment if it were bad.

The dual mass flywheel could be rattling or clicking as well.

Another cause could be the clutch fork hitting the back of the pressure plate. This can be caused by the ball stud (which guides the fork) backing off. If this is the case, you will need to pull the trans imediately because the ball stud will keep backing off. This will also destroy the dual mass flywheel from the impact of the fork hitting the pressure plate.

Do you feel a little kickback in the pedal? How many miles?

I haven't noticed any kickback. It seems to be normal. It has 45000 mi. I just noticed it about a week ago. A friend of mine drove it the other day and didn't notice anything unusual. He has a 91 ZR1. There shouldn't be much difference between the two cars. Noise is only in the last inch or so of travel.

i completely agree here with the ball stud. i had the exact same problem that started subtle and with in a day i couldnt push the clutch in half way before it began to rub so bad it sounded like a ruler in a fan. the shop claims no serious damage was done but i know better. now my car shutters when i let the clutch out much like a unsurfaced flywheel.
