Need more info.

Is it stock HP level?
Do you race it at all? Drag, auto cross, or road race?
Street tires? Drag radials? Slicks?

If you are near stock HP level, a stock replacement should work well for you.

If the dual mass is dead, you are kinda in trouble since no one makes them anymore.

If the dual mass is OK, and you are wearing out stock clutches with power or aggressive driving, Centerforce makes a nice dual friction clutch for the dual mass flywheel.

I have a single mass flywheel set up in my car from Centerforce and like it.

At this time the only mods is a tune and Magnaflows nothing big. I have gone to the Drag Strip now and then but on Street tires no Drag Radials BUT wouldnt rule out tring some. I thought of putting in an Aluminum fly wheel for some free HP but I am hearing that the solid wheels make noise, esp. the alum one , is that true? This will be the first clutch the car has had, It has 74k on it and if I drive like a saine person it does just fine, no slipping. I took it to the strip this week end and noticed it didnt "bite" that good when power shifting (and yes I had my foot completely off the peddal)

After 110K of gentle driving (with the occasional high-acceleration pass of a truck on the highway), I was ready to rebuild the car.

The guys found that my dual-mass was junk, and they recommended a new set-up from SPEC which would not only handle the new HP, but would also last.

Here is a photo. SPEC has several different sets-up, depending on the HP in the system. But they make a great product.

Jay's new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate.

Legal Eagle,
let's hear some details of that SPEC clutch kit, what do you think of the whole package?
I myself are in need of a clutch, 90 l98 coupe 98,000mi on stock clutch and I seriously question my dual mass flywheel. I plan on getting the SPEC "stage 1" with a billet steal flywheel-somthing better than stock for 90% street / 10% track

Please let me know ASAP I plan on buying a clutch within 2 weeks!
Anything and Everything!
THANKS

I believe they are putting in a Stage 3 kit for me. It has the billet steel flywheel, and an upgraded clutch and pressure plate.

I truly wish I could give you a report on how it is working out. It is installed in the car, and still sitting in the shop. But the guys in the shop tell me it's the perfect match for what I am doing.

The SPEC people have different stages of clutch, depending on the power you expect to put through it. I think a Stage 1 might be good for a stock LT4, but if you are going to upgrade the engine for more power later, you would be wise to consider simply upgrading the clutch now to the level you will eventually see in the engine.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. If you need more information, I will call the shop and get whatever details you like for the clutch. Just let me know.

Thanks.

Jay
