For me the HD shocks are the most I would want for street driving. Bumps can be a little uncomfortable. Now that my car is mostly a track car I wish I would have went with the Z51 or better rate. If you get them and don't like them I would trade.
I have Z51 shocks on my '87 coupe. The car originally had the Z52 suspension with base springs and gas shocks. The Z51 shocks made a big difference in handling, although I upgraded the sway bar bushings to polyurethane at the same time.
The ride is stiffer now but not to where it's rough. Bad road surfaces make for a bumpier ride but freeway cruising and boulevards are not a problem.
BTW, you didn't say what year car you have or the body style. It's a good idea to fill out your profile so people can know what the car is. Sometimes there are answers that are specific to year and model or even what mods you have.
