You need the same parts either way... but the ZF is notorious for being noisy and if it ever breaks, it is $2000 minmum to repair, or you can buy another cheaper if they are still around since they are discontinued, and the clutch parts are limited in terms of different mfg'rs and the clutch parts are costly
to do a TKO swap
For a TKO swap, all you need is a
stock 84-88 Clutch $ 300
stock Bellhousing 84-88 = $125
Stock 84-88 master and slave $100 total for both
A Dakota Digital Speedo corrector, you can buy your own or buy it thru Keisler $75
It comes with all mounting brackets and shifter and drive shaft yoke.

to do a ZF swap, you need a
89-96 Clutch @ cost of @ $450
ZF Bell housing = $300 (IF YOU CAN FIND ONE)
a ZFsingle mass Flywheel = $400
or a Dual Mass Flywheel = $1000
ZF Slave and master = $125 for both
ZF Drive shaft yoke = Junkyard $50
Speedo Corrector = $75

by itself. In my recent emails with your company, I was advised I "could" purchase the Keisler hydraulics, and rig them to work, but it was recommended I use stock components.
I have recently aquired the above mentioned clutch, bellhousing and hydraulics, $500 dollars through ebay, not incuding S&H.
Again, I like ur product, and admit I have not been in any hurry to get my swap done; but, I do still plan to purchase, and feel it is only fair to be accurate.
To the OP, u do realize this is gonna be at least a $4000 project, and that's if u do ur own work? What is the worth of your car, and is it cost effective to do this swap? I know, in my case, I have already invested (ie: dumped
) a stupid amount in my car, so the answer for me is "probably"
. Also before u buy from any of the above mentioned companies, ask specific questions about what is specifically included in the kit u are quoted. I think u'll find no one includes the clutch compnents, bell housing, hydraulics, drive shaft, pedals, console, &tqe arm: and, that the kit includes only "basic components" needed to start the conversion.
To LD 85, I have followed ur posts over the last years with great interest and bow to ur first hand experience, but, wasn't your swap from an original manual car to uprade first to a ZF and then to the Keisler TKO? This makes a difference in what the OP is needing to complete his swap. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance, but I am reporting what I personally have encountered while saving up and gathering parts for this same type of swap. I think we both do agree, a Keisler or similar TKO swap is better in the long run, than a standard ZF swap.
Thanks again for all of your help!
