Default Cool solution to the ugly breadbox

On my '86 the ugly old, space robbing Breadbox had seen its last days and so had the original console lid. Since this isn't a '63 or something that would need to stay correct, I though this was a nice touch. Anyways I like it and get a lot of compliments on both. It's Texas Walnut with Red Chestnut Min-wax stain. Then I used a 2 part epoxy resin finish for a clear coat that is easily 40mil thick. I printed a C-4 logo on photo paper and carefully cut it out and glued it to the lid after I painted rally stripes then the epoxy was applied. It really does look very cool, custom and classy. Certainly lots better than before!

Looks nice. Is the burlwood that you have on the rest of the dash no longer available?

I called the company that I bought the burlwood kit gave me a price of $140.00 for a piece large enough to do the same project. Screw that! The walnut was $16.00 and looks much nicer. Im considering replacing the cheesy plastic kit with walnut one piece at a time. I'll keep you updated. If so it should look amazing when completed!!

im not a big fan of wood interiors in a non luxurious car in the first place, but the two wood patterns and colors just makes it worse to me. I would suggest getting them the same or at least close or finding some way to integrate the walnut to another place in the car, such as the steering wheel to set it off. I still dont think that would look good, but hey, you probably dont like how mine is. Just my opinion take it for all its worth.
