Well I originally thought my door was sagging but when messing with it today I noticed that when you rolled the window up the part of the glass closest to the Side Mirror would come up out of the frame almost an inch causing back corner to go back further which was hitting the Actual car when you shut the door.. has anyone dealt with this? Any suggestions?
on my 85 there is stop in side the door . it is plastic taper roller that hits a metal stop. you will half to pull door panel to see it. good luck it,s a real pain to get window adjusted right.
Along with the stop there are a lot of adjustment points, almost all are accessible only with the door panel and the aluminum plate out of the way. Make sure your door isnt sagging first.
It may also be your regulator is worn out or the rollers that are in the regulator track. Still gota take it apart. Once you look inside, the problem hopefully will be obvious.
Good luck with it , take a valium or something and shoo away sensitive ears, choice words will be spoken.
The window stop guide is broken would be my guess. Common problem since it's made of plastic and become brittle over time. At least on my 96, the repair isn't that hard. I did one side, took me about an hour taking my time and cleaning up the inside of the door as I went along. I'm going to do the other side soon and probably will get this done even quicker. I found no need to make any window adjustments when I replaced the stop guide.
This is a nice little tool for taken off the old window stop guide and putting on the new guide. Not necessary, but would make life a little easier for such short dollars:
And since I had the doors apart, I decided to replace the outside window seals which were easy to do as well. They were rusty and crappy looking. Good article here about that:
