ok I am going to replace my outer door window seals. Obviously I need to buy the seals. But what else do I need to get this done? And how do I I get the old seals off?
Just did my drivers side; I had the part 4 a year and just got around 2 doing it. Did the passengers side last year. The only tools I used were a screwdriver, drill and a rivet gun. Good luck. :seeya
The only tools you need are a philps screw driver to
remove the door panel, a drill motor and drill bit to
drill out the three rivets (make sure drill bit is smaller
than 3/16) that retain the seal. You will need three new
3/16 rivets for each side and a pop rivet gun to install the rivets.
Be very careful when you are installing the new seals, the
metal retainers on the seal can scratch the paint on the
door if you are not careful.
It is also easier to remove and install the rivets if you remove
the screws in the door weatherstrip first, you can then lift the
weatherstrip up and not cut it with the drill.
The only problem I had (and still have) is the manual door lock
sliding **** on both doors will not reinstall correctly, they both
stick out at about a 40 degree angle. Anybody have any suggestions
on how to correctly install the door locks?
