I've had a miss that I narrowed down to old plug wires. I had Taylor 8mm on that are 6 years old and have 30k miles on them. I opened the hood in the dark and saw lots of sparking going on. Swapped some other wires on which took the miss away. Opened the hood again in the dark and saw sparking going on again.
Okay, so I need some new wires. I really need a good way of routing them! I'd like to have a nice clean look.
Guess I'll do a search on what would be good. Of course if anyone wants to share what they use, I'd be glad to hear. Feel free to post pics too if you have a nice set or have them run nicely.
i bought the same taylor wires and had the same result.they are not good wires IMO.my dad lives on old route 66 just east of arcadia.hes the guy with giant shop behind his house, just thought it was weird that i would run into someone who lives on the same original 1 mile strech of road.
Are you still running center bolt valve covers? I haven't looked at your engine bay since you first put in the zz4. If so I say get some of the looms that will route it right over your valve covers.
I've been thinking of buying a spool of MSD wire and making my own because I'm not too happy with the lengths or routing on any of the wires I've seen so far. If I do that I'll give you a shout and I can make two sets. Of course that's in the pile o' plans right up there with finishing out my shop and the rest of my car projects...
That's what I bought but they came in 8mm rather than 7. Beldens are good wires and they have a lifetime guarantee. I just did't get to pick the color.
I haven't checked at night for any more sparking. I do believe I need a new cap and rotor however. I think mine is original.

If they're original, they're well outside their maximum service life. Sounds like a Spring tune-up is in order. I'll bet that'll cure your electrical bugaboo problem.
Had Taylors, MSD and went back to original Delcos and routed them as stock. I find myself going back to a lot of original parts on high modded motor!
Good luck
I put AC Delco plug wires on my 89. They were 2-3 inches longer than the Taylor wires I had on there. I wasn't sure where I was going to put all the extra slack at.
But I could hardly get them to click onto the spark plugs. I was only able to get maybe 3 clicked on. The rest I could push as hard as I could, and couldn't get them to click. So, I ripped them out and plan to get something else. I never had any problems clicking on the Taylor wires.
Anyone know if those Belden wires are easy to click onto the spark plugs? And how are the lengths?
