I didnt know this would be such a problem....
2 rear wheel studs broke when I removed the rear tire on my 85. I went down to my local GM dealer to buy new studs and nuts, but I was told they werent available seperatley. I was told I had to buy the whole hub assembly. Is this true? Or is it possible the guy wasnt looking in the right place?
Does someone have a GM part number for studs and nuts?
What about an aftermarket source?
While hubs do come with studs, you can buy individual studs at just about any parts store. A tire store should be able to get them also. Have you tried Canadian Tire? Is there a CarQuest store in Winnipeg? Looks like there is at least NAPA store in Winnipeg.
As for lugnuts, if you still have the plastic covers that go over the nuts, these nuts should be available at any parts store or any GM dealer. This type of lugnut was common to a number of GM cars, not just Corvettes. Also any C4 and C5 lugnuts are the same.
Getting the busted part of the stud out of the rear hub may be a PITA.
Thanks for the replies....I was worried that these studs were something special! Canadian Tire didnt have, but I will try NAPA with the part number supplied!
