Is it true on the 95 LT1s, that you can remove the rear O2 sensor that is on the pass side?
Reason I ask is I need to take my car this weekend and have the cats welded back up. Don't have a spot for the rear O2 sensor (yet). Went to start the car Saturday and it was running like SH*T. It was running really rough and kinda sputtering. Figured maybe that was it? The only other culprit would be to recheck all my plugs and wires. I currently just have the 2 exhaust pipes clamped up to the backend of the system just to get it over there.
I believe that on our 95s the computer measures the diff between the front and the rear 02 sensor and adjusts the air/fuel mixture. Thus I think that you do need it. When I had my stainless works LT headers & RT cats installed I had to buy a longer cable for the rear sensor.

Don't think so.
A/F is only based on the front O2's.
I'm 99% sure the rear O2 is to help determine cat converter efficiency, nothing more. For example, my 96' with 95 PCM doesn't even throw a code without the rear O2 and there is absolutely nothing in the tune itself that references a rear O2.
Again, 99% sure it is only there to help determine if the cat is going bad.
OK makes sense. Looks like I am going to have to flatbed the car
So in other words, it is something else.
For that matter, you should be able to completely disconnect ALL the O2's and at least have a running car since the front O2's aren't even paid attention to until a specific temp is reached (600 F if I recall). This is one of the reasons they introduced "heated" O2's around 94 or so, so the O2 sensor heats up quicker and the car can go into Closed Loop faster.

Gary,
The right rear O2 sensor is not needed on the 95 OBDI and will not throw a code either. You can take that to the bank.Been running and tuning without right rear sensor for 8 years now. 96 OBDII is a little different and I believe req's at least rear O2 simulators to keep from setting a code unless it is tuned out. You can also call TPIS and confirm the removal of RR 95 sensor with no problem.

All 95s are good to go? I thought I once heard that some 95s toward the end of that year got the OBD2?
Either way, the culprit might be a spark plug wire. I already installed and gaped new plugs all around. I had one wire that was fitting like crap. Might have to pull that wire and crimp it a bit. Worse case I'll just hit up autozone or advanced and see what the have for wires, or be putting in another summit order.
I have a 95 and am 95% sure that when I had the laptop hooked up and was monitoring stuff that it only watched two o2 sensors (one on each side).
I have a Corsa cat-back and there is no o2 sensor after the cat on the driver's side. I do have one on the passenger side but like I said I don't think it's monitoring the A/F. I could be mistaken as it was last summer so don't quote me, this is my recollection.
