Stock coil or high perf.
My ignition coil is suspect for the problems I'm having so if I take it to the local Autozone to be tested I would feel obligated to buy theirs . Although they might have the o.e.m. the one that is in it now is a Hypertech Street/Strip. My question is should I get a high performance coil or would the stock o.e.m. be good enough because I want to be on the road this weekend?

Hmm..I have the Hypertech coil in my car, and I've run it in my car for over a year now, and it's never skipped a beat. It's a much smoother idle than stock, I'll have to admit.

I have a stock unit on my 383. I do have a Hypertech one awaiting installation. Once the transmission is done, it's going on with a set of new plugs wires and cap and rotor. I'll let you know how it performs. I only heard good things which is why I bought one.

OEM is fine unless you have major mods that require better ignition parts.

I'm still running my original/OEM coil and it's still working fine.
