Default 91 C4 engine trouble

i have a 1991 corvette with an L-98 ...its been sitting for over a year and finally have the time to tinker with it ... i changed the fuel pump and fuel filter,I use some starting fluid to start it and it starts right up runs strong for about 20 min and then shuts down completely with no prior sign, it doesn`t run rough or anything just shuts off and wont start back up for a few days.i changed the top half of the distributor and still the same. i`m really confused on what it could be.. i was thinking maybe the fuel pump or fuel pump relay any help would be great !

Your batt probs got enough in it to start it but then not enough to keep it running. After all you say it's been sitting for a year or more. Take batt to AZ or somewhere and have it load tested.
I'd dump the fuel too, bad gas after a year aint good.

Remove fuel pump relay and try to start with starting fluid.

Check your coolant and T-stat and water pump. High temp will cause your car to shut down by itself.
The top coolant hose should get hot and firm at temp.
Just cause maybe your temp gauge shows OK, maybe not so?

Sure you do, takes less than 5 min.

Just under your steering wheel, right about knee level, you'll find your connector box for reading your codes
Stick one end of a paperclip in slot A, and the other end in slot G, turn key to ON, do not start car.For a 91.

[F|E|D|C|B|A]
[G|H|J|K|L|M]

Short pin A to pin G

Turn ignition On

LCD will display codes.

1.0 are codes for CCM
4.0 are codes for ECM
7.0 are codes for Active Suspension Should show ERR which is normal

Do this asap and report back with any codes that show up, they'll be where your speedo is.

You can check the codes by jumpering the diagnostic port. Do you have a manual for the car? It will tell you how this is done, or I am sure it is on here somewhere if you do a search.
