Default Bluetooth OBD II scanner

Found this and was thinking about linking it to my phone to get info going down the road and to read codes with my phone. This is awesome if it works, anyone have any experience with these? I have needed a scanner for my Lt4 for a long time (running to the part store to run codes) and this would be perfect. Link below.

Nice, should work in concept. When I bought AutoTap I think a bluetooth module was optional. What kind of phone do you have? It only lists Palm and Windows PC/Smartphone OS's as supported, so just something to make sure before you buy.

Download Datamaster to laptop, hook up ALDL cable and you got everything you need.
TunePro RT will do the same thing.

IIRC, Datamaster is only for OBD I. OBD II scanning is expensive no matter what way you do it...

If this works well, no wires and no laptop. Only a cell phone/PDA. Has anyone used one?

Are there any free programs for OBDII? Just to show and record live data? I have a scanner but the way it records live data is horrible...

I have a similar one but the software that comes with them stinks.
The device its self works but forget it with a smart phone, I tried a palm, windows and i phone but thee is no software that supports iphone bluetooth there is a great one that uses iPhone wifi but it is too costly.

Go to one of the reliable chinese websites that sell everything under the sun.
I prefer dealextreme and search ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II
then go ahead and get a cheap laptop bluetooth dongle which sould be in the $2 or $3 area
and a good software, I have Digimoto. there are places to get of free but be careful doing that unless you know what your doing on those sites.

I love it you can do almost anything from read and clear codes to a run a virtual drag strip that will let you run simulated runs and give you all kinds of info form 1/8 and 1/4 times and speeds and if you put in all your cars info it even gives you an estimate oh HP. It seems to be pretty accurate.

Do you have a link to the site where you got yours? Is it for OBDII?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. It sucks that the smartphone stuff doesn't work, but I guess I can drag the laptop around. Just curious, the ad says it will work with certain smartphones, did yours claim the same, but just didn't work?

here is the one I have
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16921

The blue-tooth dongle is under $2 there and everything has free shipping.

Be careful or you will spend all night just looking at everything they sell.
You name it and they have it. even an adult section

it is backordered
but
this place has a good one
that is not bluetooth
http://www.focalprice.com/result_key...LM327_1_0.html

what you want to be sure is that they are ELM327 because most software will only work correct with elm327

another site to keep an eye on is kaidomain.com
that one along with dealextreme.com and focalprice.com are all reliable.
I prefer dealextreme but have bought from all 3
they all have good customer service but sometimes have problems with translations.
try and wait till someone else buys something and post reviews on it unless you need it asap.
I have had to RMA one thing and git my money back 2 days later.
they have a return address in florida so you do not have to ship it back to china.

If you get one and can not find the software PM me and I will try and help you find it.
I tried 6 or7 different software versions and digimoto seemed the best.

I ended up buying a cheap used laptop just for the car,
You can monitor almost everything plus record graphs.

The laptop version of the software is 1000 times better than the smart phone.

I am waiting on a Iphone version but apple will not approve any bluetooth software that have a deal with the people that make the wifi dongles that cost a small fortune.

I bought this one from dealxtreme

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28528

Not bluetooth, but If I have to lug around the laptop anyway, the cord isn't going to bother me. How much for the Digimoto? And does it replace the software sent with the scanner?
