While I'm in there
Before you answer here are the vitals on the car:
Stock 1988 L98 with 186,000 miles
Daily driver, not track.
Puff of smoke on startup, otherwise fine
I replaced the intake manifold gaskets about 7 years ago along with the EGR valve, switch, sensor, and fuel pressure regulator (adjustable).
I also had the fuel injectors refurbished by cruzin performance.
I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the IAC and TPS a couple of weeks ago.
Car idles terrible thanks to the vacuum leak (I suspect)
I had a hard time finding the vacuum leak. I checked each hose with a mighty vac then sprayed everywhere with a propane torch and couldn't find anything. Finally I used some throttle body cleaner and sprayed around. The car definitely responded when I sprayed cleaner around the base of the rear passenger side runner. I found one of runner screws was quite loose so I tightened them all without resolving the problem. It just dawned on me that my intake could be leaking again too.
are 1.6 roller rockers worth my time on such a high mileage engine?
How about springs, push rods, etc?
I'm not looking to pump up the horse power (at least not yet) as I spend most time driving in bumper to bumper traffic just itching to put my foot down.
