I am trying to decide if I want to spend 400 bucks to have my newly built 383 dynoed at my builders shop. I did all the port work on the heads so it would be nice to see how I did.
It includes:
break in
tuning
Hp numbers for both long tubes and my stock manifolds
Most dyno facilities that I've come across will charge $150 an hour with a minimum of 1-hour charged. Of course, it always end up running the end user something like $500+++, in my opinion, I'd let them do the job just because you've already got so much invested into the thing... the last thing you want to do is blow it up due to being out of tune .
There is well respected shop in the Bay Area that charges $900 to set up the motor on the dyno along with a day of tuning. Your offer sounds like a good deal.
500. is a good price, to me it's not just about numbers but cheap insurance....if the motor has issues or fails for any reason, it's better while the builder has it that way the cost is on him.
My guy charges $500. I just did a 383 we put together (530hp/490tq) I would do it so you know how everything is before you install it. It would save alot of time if there is a problem or you are unhappy with the results and want more power. Also you will know the best timing and jetting for your tuneup.
Thats a good price. I tried to get my new 383 runnung good with aftermarket chips and messing with the timing, wasted $300 and went to the local shop and spent $500 on a dynotune. Runs awesome now.
