Right now I am running TOYO PROXES R1R on the front and TOYO Proxes T1R in the rear I found great deals on these which is why I have them. I bought from different people paid $450.00 total for all 4 delivered to my house
I can't say enough good things about the Michelin Pilot Sports. They were on both of my C4s when I bought them, and I just put a new set on my LT4 car a couple of weeks ago. They are quiet, long-wearing, and they grip like crazy. I highly recommend them. The only downside is that they're expensive. I paid $960 for a set of four from Tire Rack.

Rears
Are they noisy? My Sumitimos are roaring like a SOB. I can't stand that!
For a cheap tire on a mostly stock C4, Sumitomo HTRZ served me well for a few years. I've heard a lot of reliable sources complain about the noise, so I've concluded either I'm deaf or my exhaust is louder than the others because I've never noticed the noise.
If you've done any serious mods like gears or converter, or if you've got a manual trans, you'll probably have more torque at launch than Sumitomos (or any other street tire) can handle so at that point I'd suggest drag radials. Nitto 555r make a great street tire for the rears because they grip better than regular street tires but last longer than other drag radials and have legitimate sidewall support and enough of a tread pattern to use in rain(unlike some other drag radials).
For all out traction on dry pavement only, I've switched to MT ET Street Radials on back. I love them, but I would not use them on a daily driver. Or any other car I planned to drive in rain.
I have four Sumi HTRZ's 275/40/17 on my 89 coupe. They are great. Inexpensive, very good gripe and I too do not hear noise. They are NOT all weather tires but I am very pleased. I do not take it to the track but I am a "spirited" driver.
I have Goodyear GS-D3s in 285/40/17 on all four. I use them as my street tires and they double as my rain tires for racing events. They have excellent grip in both the wet and dry. They are a little pricey but seem to be wearing well and no noise. A great all around tire in my opinion.
