Default Forged or cast pistons?

I always understood, from a number of sources (ex: here and here), that forged pistons were used in 1985 and earlier Corvette engines, but I just noticed the 1985 factory service manual says:

The pistons are made of a cast aluminum alloy using two compression rings and one oil control ring. Pins are Cromium steel and have a floating fit in the pistons. They are retained in the connecting rods by a press fit.

Connecting rods are made of forged steel
It also says:

The crankshaft is cast nodular iron and is supported by five main bearings
Forced induction/nitrous will go a lot better if the service manual is wrong

Anyone know for sure which is right?

Gaah, I hadn't been creative enough with searching. This thread seems to have concluded the FSM is wrong

WooHoo!

I dont know.

but i could imagine, if GM went forged pistons stock on all L98 motors, that it was for the callaway TT conversions that started in 1987? 88?

The one thing everyone agrees on is that '86 and up are not forged so I don't think the forged thing in '85 had anything to do with the Callaways.

Not to mention the Callaways used low compression forged pistons.

I believe the Callaway's also used a completely different block. One with four bolt mains.
