Default Slow power windows.

Both motors do work on my 86 but are painfully slow. The driver side window sometimes needs my help to go all the way up. Is this a sign of bad/failing motors or is there any preventive maintenance I could look at?

Thanks,
-Vince

you'll hear from other members to upgrade your window to a sissors type lift for the later years. I have not done that on my 85, i took the door panel off and cleaned everything and use some white lithium grease on the moving parts, works much better - still not as fast as i'd like.

Thanks. I'll take the door panels off and do same. Anything special I should know about taking the door panels off and reinstall?

Yeah you will hear it from me, the newer style regulators are great. My car already had one on the passenger side and I upgraded the drivers. As long as yours function, use em, when they quit, upgrade.

Wait until you need to replace them.

I agree with the cleaning. New switches also helped mine. Dirty and worn contacts in the switches will make them run slow.

I just replaced brushes on my 94. I used brushes from 02 Century.
Problem is not even brushes, brush springs get rusty and lose strength. regulators on my 3 Vettes were fine.
Which part of regulator goes bad?
