Team, I am autocrossing a 1990 Corvette Z51. Another competitor in my region is parting out his race kit because of personal issues. I am running street tires and was looking to add a set of R comps which would require me to purchase another set of wheels, and tires. I can get wheels that match mine for $125 each (replicas) but he has a set of rims mounted with practice grade V710's and a set of wheels mounted with 6 run V710's. I was going to go up to 345's. His tires are 294/35-17's. So a little smaller than I was going to go to, but bigger than my stock 275/40Z -17's.
The 91 was patterned off of the 90 ZR1 body which was a little wider than that 90 stock. My question is will the 9.5 X 17 inch wheels from the 91 run on my 90 without spacers or any such additions.
There is no difference in the wheel dimensions between the two years and will bolt on with no problems. Are all 4 wheels 9.5" wide or are you looking at a pair of 9.5" and a pair of 11" wheels?
A 295/35 tire is pretty wide for a 9.5" wheel and a 345 is way too big for that size. The factory ZR-1 rear wheel at 11" wide got a 315/35 tire and it fit fine.
