I want to repost this from the 16x9.5 thread. I would like some 5 star 9.5" rims, but i want to keep the 16" tire size. Does someone make ZR1 style rims in 16"? If not, what other wheels look good in 16"?
why wouldnt you want the 17 inch rims? i saw a nice set of american muscle 5 stars that were 16" (i think in jegs?) but i would personally get the 17's! :yesnod: good luck whatever you choose
I saw some ZR1 replicas, on this web site http://www.tbyrne.com/ that are 16x8.5 rather than the 17's. THey are under Wheels, and Tires, about half way down the page. I think silver is like 189 a piece. HOpe this helps..
try www.performancewheeloutlet.com the 9.5" is gonna be the tough part i have a feeling.. perhaps they may know of someone who makes them or can custom make you a set..other then that im at a loss :nonod:
Gid,
I too would love to find a set of 16 X 9.5 ZR1's.
I don't think they are available...anywhere.
I've been looking for months now...to add to my '86 Vette.
Most of what you'll find will be the 16 x 8, and if we go that route, we could possibly see a set-back in handling. I can't speak from experience...perhaps some of the forum members who have made this switch could share their insight?
If you find a set of 16 X 9.5 ZR1's, post it.
Good Luck!!
The only ones I know of are 16x8 because that is what came on the Camaro. You will gain performance if you make the dive into the 17" rim though. They also look better IMO. The other option is the Torque Thrust wheels. They look good on the C4's and you can get them in any size you want.
I agree with Chris (Vette 92). IMO the Torque Thrusts would look good if you really want to stay with 16s. I saw a C5 at a show once with 18" Torque Thrusts, it looked pretty
I would recommend AFS wheels, I have had mine for about a year now, and they are great. They are also custom offset for your car.
The disadvantage of 16"s is that you cannot find a decent tire size ratio above 255 for them. And even the 255's really look terrible next to a set of 275/40 17"s. There is really no advantage to 16"s unless you are staying with stock wheels.
