Over the past few years, it has been harder and harder to make the horns honk. I really had to push the hell out of the buttons to get any noise. They don't do anything now. Any clues as to what I need to investigate here?? causes?
It is probably the switches themselves. They are made of a clear plastic and break eventually. Mine were broke in such a way that the horn would go off turning corners. It got to the point I had to disconnect them all together. Here is what they look like in my 94 and here is the box they came in. I think I got them through gmpartsdirect.com or Rockauto.
Unplug the connector going to the horns and go straight to 12 volts and ground just to make sure the horns work before replacing the horn switch in the steering wheel. Even then, unplug the connector underneath the steering wheel column and test the circuit for the horns when pressing on the horn button.
Thanks for the part number. I had trouble with mine and I "jerry rigged" the whole thing and only the righ button works. I'll get busy and order this part and get it to work.
To the OP, if this doesn't fix your problem, buy a set of hellas horns, they are great.
