Anyone have issues with odometer after battery goes dead?
For some reason when my battery was
charged the odo read 57k instead of 55k. Now it also says to change oil and I'm about 400 miles over my norm 3k oil change intervals. Anyone had something like this? The only other thing I can thing of if my dad just drove the **** out of it while he had it for he day, but were talking a difference of 1400 miles I don't see that as the case. Anyone got any words of wisdom on this?
The odometer info is stored in the CCM - I don't know what the memory technology is, but the info is stored over battery changes and long periods of no battery at all. Apparently, when the battery charger was hooked up to the battery an electrical transient hit the CCM memory and voila! your car picked up 1400 miles in a flash. And no, I've never heard of such a problem before. It's a shame it didn't subtract 1400 miles instead ...
Thanks for the input. I'm still searching the net for anyone with this problem. My dad didn't drive it, he actually asked me the same thing about how so many miles were showing up but I only drive to school and work, nowhere far.Really strange...I figure it out somehow.
