Heater core?
If the heater core was clogged would it make the collant temp soar when your drove it and would it heat work spratic at best. Or would air pockets in the radiator more likely do this Thanks Ron

A clogged heater core will NOT cause the engine to run hot. A clogged heater core will throw little or no heat. Sporatic heater output is usually due to a low coolant level in the system.
