Default Please help....Roller Rocker question

I have an 89' Roadster that I am considering putting a set of Crane aluminum 1.6 roller rockers in to give it more horsepower. The guy wants $85 for the set. If I purchased these would I need to change my cam or make any other engine modifications? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Although you don't NEED to, I would get better valve springs to go in with the rockers, not sure about the L98s but in the LT1s 1.6 RRs put the springs kind of close to coil bind and its not worth risking in my opinion.

Is the rocker set self-aligning or non self-aligning? That could make a difference on what else you will need.

They are non self-aligning. Should I forgo them and look for only self-aligning? Thanks for the feedback.

That's an excellent price. Feel the roller parts to make sure they are okay and not worn out. At a recent swap meet I found a guy selling a can full and they were all worn. You will need to install guide plates if you use them and push rods. Figure $20ish for plates and $40ish for push rods. I would change the springs, $40ish for LT4 springs. While you're there change the valve seals too. Self align rockers would not need guide plates or push rods.

Thanks Aardwolf! I assume that the LT4 springs are a direct fit for my L98 motor, correct?

I also appreciate all of the information from everyone else as well. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Also, if you decide to do springs might as well do valve seals while their off, and make sure the pushrods are hardened.

Oh, what about a camshaft change while you've got it down. Just kidding.
