I another post you said
" If your fan didn't normally come on during start up, your ECM may be in limp home mode.
Is the SES light on when running and have you tried to see if there are any stored codes in the ECM ? "
You put the above info in a post for somebody fighting a rough idle......

My Problem 1986
I have been fighting a intermittant surging idle for some time now and checked and rechecked everything but the injectors. Scan showed all sensors in range, Replaced fuel pump and filter a couple months ago and going to do the filter again. only code is a MAF I put a new MAF on and had the same problem so the old MAF is back on.
Also pressure check at the rail is only 18 lbs steady 45 after start up and steady and rising with a load (driving)..
So could this all be a computer problem caued by the fan or was I miss reading your post?

I think what he meant to say was if your fan comes on at cold start and your SES is on then you are probably in limp home mode.
Surging idle on L98s is a common problem and usually caused by a vacuum leak.
