I thought I'd mention that I just ordered the Side Effects Exhaust system for my 93'. Ship date is expected around the end of the month. I'll be taking some pictures of it after installation for those of you interested. Also available from them is the rear trim piece that covers up the cutouts for the LT1 exhaust. I ordered this also and will provide pics for those interested. It's my plan to install thises as soon as I get them (which I wish was today...as I am a bit impatient!) . I'll keep you folks posted!
Re: Just Ordered Side Effects Exhaust (TNTC4VETTE)
Great picture you have there, do you have any more? Those wheels you have are the exact style I wish to replace mine with. Did you do the exhaust installation yourself, if so, how was it?
I bought these srtaight from Power Effects. I paid $1295 for the system and $85 for the rear trim piece. You can purchase this exhaust system from MAD but you'll pay more. Thier number is (616) 847-4200 and I think the web site is http://www.powereffects.com. They are located in Grand Haven, MIGood Luck!
The only pics I have are from the web site, the picture above belongs to another member. I too would like to see more pictures! I will post some of mine after I install the system. Hopefully this will help other who are questioning the looks and performance too.
Hey all,
I ordered mine from MAD and spent a bit more money...but it was well worth it. My buddy and I spent an entire Saturday installing them, with the big hangup being getting the jacking plates aligned correctly and centering the exhaust ports in the glass panels...even after, I had to redrill a couple holes to get the bottom of the panels to screw into the bracketry on the system. They are of great quality though, and over the flowmaster mufflers I had welded on the stock exhaust, seem to have tightened up the torque curve a bit. I have more pictures, but I'm still getting my website together, so nothing here yet. With the car lowered, it looks great with no tailpipes...I said no to the fill-ins and the chrome tips...car's got enough bright stuff on the wheels. They sound GREAT, and I have had tons of positive feedback from everyone here and guys I auto-x with...can't wait to show it at "Vettes at the Rock" this month.
Re: Just Ordered Side Effects Exhaust (TNTC4VETTE)
Also...the wheels are GS repros from http://www.afswheels.com , and Don, sadly, I think there is not a system for the great Z...I would think there would be, due to a ZR1 being INSANE looking with side-exits...maybe enough interest has sparked to get LT5's their due.
Those look pretty sweet...hopefully your exhaust won't take as long as mine to arrive :( (I ordered a set of Ansa mufflers that shipped a month ago and still isn't here yet)
I had a set on my black rose 92 (auto). The rear looked good without exhaust tips or pipes. I did have the fill ins though. The sound from them was awesome and didnt resonant too badly. They were on my car when i bought them so i couldnt say how they effected performance. One thing i did notice though is how often i touched the ground with them. Those plates are more to protect the exhaust than to jack your car. When i had a flat i had to get 4 friends to lift the car so i could slide the jack in. Wasnt a lowered car either. As far as looks, i think they are sharp but they look way better in person.
They arent adjustable but i think that is a good thing. You wouldnt want a vette with sidepipes driving around unheard, would you?
