Which shocks should I choose between the Bilstein Sport, Edelbrock, KYB's...unfortunately I can't go any higher in price b/c I'm still in college :D . Does anyone have any Photo's of their install to help me out, or should I let the shop do it, they are gonna charge $140 for the install and I figured I could save a few bucks. :smash: :jester

You can change the shocks yourself with nothing more than hand tools. It is really easy on your vette. There is no way I would pay a mechanic to do it. The install is simple. All you have to do is remove the right bolts and they fall off the car.
As far as choice of shock, it dpends on what you do with the car. I autox my vette so I really like the adjustability of Koni's. They cost me $480 for 4 from Summit.

It's a DIY job, save the $$$$.
You can have Bilstein rebuild (and revalve) the ones you have for about $50 each. Give them a call ( 858/386-5951, I think that the service number) and they'll discuss the type of driving you do and the proper valving.
Re: Which Shocks to choose and install??? (John Row)
I just bought 4 Bilstein non-Z51 shocks from http://www.shox.com...$269 for the 4...I don't compete, so the off-the-shelf non-adjustable Bilsteins were fine for my app...(Your price may very - email them for quote)...
Real easy to replace, but I cheated and drilled 1/2" holes in the front inner fender for the hex wrench...
Re: Which Shocks to choose and install??? (Rich B.)
I just pulled off a set of Bilstein Z51 sports. I liked the Z51s for handeling, but the ride was too harsh. Just installed edelbrock IAS. Good for the street and highway. lots less wheel hop on rough roads. Bumpy corners feel MUCH BETTER. ;)
Re: Which Shocks to choose and install??? (XtremeVette420)
You can get the Edelbrock IAS shocks from Advanced Auto Parts. They seemed to be the cheapest at $133 per front shock and $78 per rear shock. I had the KYBs on my, but decided to go with the Koni Sport adjustables. I'm very happy with the performance!
Re: Which Shocks to choose and install??? (kkonen)
After having replaced my stock bilsteins with the same thing, I will be installing Koni's next year.....gotta try something a little different now. :seeya

Where did you get your Edelbrock's at and for how much? I appreciate all the help guyz
I got my Edelbrocks at Kragan of all places. Found a counter guy who gave me a commercial account price of 82.00 each. Couldn't pass them up...
Just did my weekly commute of 150 miles and back. gotta say I LOVE the way the car handels. Took a little getting use to, over the Bilstien Z51, kind of seemed to loose during the normal cruise, but they are there when you get it into a turn. SWEEEEET!!! :)
