134A conversion
I am going to change my A/C system to 134A Freon when the high pressure line is replaced, but need some assistance. What I'd like to know before going to any shop is...how much freon is needed for a 134 conversion and whether the "O" ring replacement is mandatory. I've seen many articles recently the IF the correct lubricant is used, then "O" ring replacement is NOT necessary. Has anybody done this change and been thru the same thing?

I've done many of these. Most systems will take between 1.5-2 lbs. Changing the O-rings isn't necssary in my experience. You should change the drier and the orifice tube and flush the system. Change the fittings, evacuate and recharge and you're

+1 on that. The only problem I had was that the low pressure sensor went out shortly after conversion. Best to use a good set of gauges to judge when it has enough freon. I also bought a nice vacuum pump that has paid for itself many time over.
