I changed the power steering pump on my 93 coup. Took all last weekend. several hours in the evening after getting home during the week eash day, and finished today. No leaks. Let me ask a dumb question. How can I tell if the new one is working right?
One quart fills the system.I rocked the stering wheel back and forth several times. I drove it around some. I'm hopeing it will settle in. Still the same high pitched whine as before. How can I tell? Did I get a bad unit from Orielley's? Is the rack bad? I read about the pressure guage test, but don't have one. Surely there must be a more simple way to test.
Thanks
To follow up. PS working great now. After I thought about it. I pulled it up on the ramps the next morning. Dropped the new cooler for easy access, and removed one rubber hose. I held the hose tightly with one thumb, and the cooler connection with the other thumb, and had my wife crank up, but to shut down immediatly. No air in the line. I couldn't hold it. Strong pressure. Good pump. Drove it around a bit. The wife and I took it to town. I felt so good. On the way back, damn thing quit. No fuel, or no fire. I just filled the tank. I'm thinking fuel. Anyway, that's another post for another time. I pulled it home the 2 miles, and it's safe in my garage now.
