first this is a 1987 vette motor, in a gta trans am. it has accel 30lbs injectors. i just finished assembling this motor for the guy. problem i am having is with the pressure regulator. it is a bbk adjustable. when i tighten the screw the pressure should increase, right? next, the screw broke while turning it. so i have put the stock regulator cover back on. while putting it on, there was no resistance from the spring? shouldn't i have to push down on the cover to compress the spring, in order to make the cover flush with the mounting surface? maybe this regulator is damaged?
with either one of these, i get no pressure registoring on the gauge when i turn the key. although, when i unscrew the gauge from the the fuel rail, some fuel does squirt out of the.
i should add that there was a couple times after cranking the engine for awhile.i started getting around 20lbs. and for some reason, when i got a back fire from incorrect ignition timing, the fuel pressure jumped to 45 lbs. that happened while squirting starting fluid in the throttle body!
so, what is going on here????????
sounds like your missing the small metal disk that goes between the adjusting bolt and the spring.
you should have some pressure when trying to put the cover on, even on the stock cover.
you could drill and tap the hole bigger and use another bolt in the BBK unit.
