I"m looking into buying a 96 collectors edition coupe.
I just sold my 93 moving to this because I want the 6 speed.
The car has 92000 turn on it. Anything differant I should look for then what I would see on my 93.
Any problems nown to the 96.
And I want to thank again everone here who is so helpful, I just got threw a speedo problem with the help of this forum that I now saved me money and time.
If it has RPO F45 then read up on it before you buy. That is the only 96 specific issue that I know of. I'm not saying F45 doesn't work. I'm just saying parts for it are rare.

Ask me how I know
6 speed is the way to go you get the LT4 engine with the 6 speed.
Yeah...the F45 is a PITA if it fails as I know all too well right now since it appears my RTD module might be bad, but at the same time, it only got put on to 2500+ cars so it also adds to the uniqueness 's of a car.
Check to see if the opti spark has been replaced. Opti should run 60k and be replaced. Mine made over 100k. I have an R&D now. My CE has 115 k on it. The LT 4 is a great engine. My ZF-6 speed went out at a couple of weeks ago. Check to see that the trany is quite in neutral with the clutch out.
96 Collector Edition with LT4 engine only comes with the 6 speed as mentioned before. Had mine just about 7 months and made a couple modifications. The main one was Hypertech 160 thermostat and power programmer. Changed the fan settings to come on at 195 instead around 230 as the stock setting is. Runs much cooler between 185 & 195 which helps performance and longevity of the engine. When I first got it drove from Dallas to Tulsa in town the temp was up to about 230 to 235 I thought it was overheating. Checked on this forum and found out they run this high normally before the fans kick on.

What else did you do? Fans don't run at highway speed so the lowering of the fan temps will not affect hiway temp. Anything over 195 is not affected by the thermostat.
I run with the AC on 90% of the time so the fan kick on temps are not a factor with me. My LT4 typically runs at 200 regardless of speed or traffic. To me that is a good temp. I have the engine out now and will be putting in the DeWitt I have had for awhile. Will be interesting to see if it lowers the temps. I did find a lot of junk like very small stones lodged in the fins of the OEM rad.
You could have put in a 180 thermostat and gotten the same effect.

Eddie
On the highway temp was okay. Just got up in town. I also put a midamerica motorwoks larger maf housing, an open lid for the airfilter and an airfoil for in the throttle body. . Helped performance.
I love mine and it's for sale to enable me to get back into a C3. (I seem to have forgotten why I sold my race prepared '69 and wanted a stock car again).
I'm way down in Florida, so I'm pretty sure you can find an equal car closer but take a look just for grins: http://www.corvettesnccc.org/4SALE.html
On a high milage car, pay attention to the age of the Opti and water pump. It's a plus if the tranny had been gone through (or replaced) and the clutch replaced too.
The wheel bearings don't live forever but are pretty easy to replace.
There is a new rear bearing about to come out that should live much better in the track day environment but for my kind of driving the heavy duty ones have proven to work fine.
I have found here in hot and humid land my Dewitt radiator is a plus.
Th electrical system is a nightmare but things have not gotten better with the C5 or C6. I've been lucky and not had problems with sensors or computers.
Prices are crazy low so if you have cash in hand enjoy your new ride!
