Default location of second temp sensor?

92 LT1 apparently has two coolant temp sensors, one being in the WP for the gauges. I understand that there is a second sensor for the computer. I'm throwing an H14 code, but I know for sure that I don't have a hight temp issue. On initial startup, engine stumbles for a bit, SES indicator comes on, and then it runs just fine and the temp gauge does exactly what I would expect.
I figure on simply replacing the other sensor, but don't know where to look.

Do both the analog and digital coolant gauges read ok? They won't read the same but should track each other as the temp climbs and falls.

The second sensor is in the middle of the driver side head. (I may have to go look to confirm driver side...)

BTW I believe the one in the water pump is for the comp (and digital gauge) while the one in the head is for the analog gauge.

EDIT: The code H14 would mean that (H)istorically, the temp read too high. As these heat up their resistance drops. If the wire or connection were faulty that could read infinite resistance (open) and set that code. Check the wires and the connection too. I knocked the plastic cover off of mine while removing the belt once but it still worked untill I replaced it for aesthetics.

As mentioned the sensor in the WP is temperature input for the ECM and digital gauge, the second sensor is only for the analog gauge, it is located in the right (passenger side) cylinder head. I would double check the wiring to the sensor in the WP for your issue.

Thanks for both of you replies. I'll check that out. BTW, the digital gauge reads fine from cold through to operating temp.
When you say the other sensor is "in the head", does that mean access it from under the injector cover?

No, only the intake manifold is accessible under the fuel rail cover, the cylinder head is below the valve cover.

Look between spark plugs 6 and 8 passenger side. But if the analog gauge is reporting temps ok then that one if fine and to my knowledge can't set any code even if it were to fail.
