heard brake noise so took of wheel intending to change pads in the rear of the 93. Took em out of the driver's side rear and noticed neither one has the little clip on it for chirping when they get worn out. Got the GM manual for my car but the illustrations don't friggin show it and I can't remember....... Does the pad with the little chirp clip on it go inboard or outboard, and orient towards front or rear ? Shhheeeeeit, thanks a ton, its dark already, been sweatin my ash off in the hot sun all day, tore down a barn earlier. Shuntna even got into this thing but you know how it goes....
They are usually on the inboard side....the side which houses the pistons. I doubt the warning clips were on those pads to begin with. I've never seen them fall off. If the pads are in good shape, screw 'em. Just check more often. If not, there are several choices for pads out there, cheap to really good.

Did you ever find out what direction the anti squeel tabs face? I pulled the rear pads off mine and the anti squeel was on the pad at the piston. And the anti squeel tab was pointing at the ground. Though not sure if the tab is supposed to point at the ground, or point up.
Just about every car I have done, the low pad warning clip/inner pad mounts facing down,on the inside of the brake caliper. The inner pad wears out faster than the outer pads do,so that is where they are usually located.

squeel tabs go on inboard pad and towards the vehicle front.

Thanks. The one good thing about the fronts is they only go in one way. Though the front caliper mounting bracket bolts look like a pain at 165 ft/lbs. I hope I can get my impact wrench in there to the bolts. I may use it to get the bolts most of the way torqued as I thought 70 ft/lbs for the rear bolts were a pain.
