How high does the car need to be off the ground to get the front spring out? Is this high enough?
And since the exhaust has to be pulled, should I straight pipe it? I have a set of pipes for it, but idk if it will be too loud with a set of dynomax super turbo mufflers. or should I just gut the cat? Here in this part of Ga we don't have emissions
It looks like its high enough to get the spring out. Not sure why you'd need to remove the exhaust to change the spring. True dual exhaust is the best way to go though.
I'm in the middle of my (near done) suspension rebuild on my '86 too. Mine's silver and black also. Just picture yours, with the wheels off and tools strewn about EVERYWHERE....

Wheels are off and underneath car as of right now, doing front and rear, replacing everything, springs included
the front spring is starting to sag. so I'm going to VB&P Sport system. I currently have the Z51, but feel this is a better route to go instead of using the stock Z51 spring again. Should be more fun.
I have the base springs, and the car rode terrible with the 16 inch wheels and tires.
I changed to C5 thin spoke wheels, and newer technology style tires, and it rides like a dream compared to the way it rode before.
You should upgrade the wheel/tire combo, you will understand why after you do it. I know, your tires are almost new.......
