Re: L98 speed density affordable mods (Eduardo L98 1991)
Eduardo, I think you would gain somewhere around 60hp and alot of torque with that combination. the ZZ4 cam works good with the TPI but you will have to change the valve springs! add a set of 3.07 gears and hang on :D
What brand of springs, Can I buy it in Summit or a better place ?
I saw that I need to change spring with almost any aftermarket cam why ?, the oem springs are soft ?
I want to have 300 rwhp, can I ? with stock heads ?for daily use
Let me know
regards
Re: L98 speed density affordable mods (Eduardo L98 1991)
Match the springs to the cam. A new cam or even 1.6 RRs requires new springs and shims due to increased lift and higher seat pressure requirements. Also springs age and should be replaced to avoid valve float.
OEM springs are rated to give maximum valve train life within the stock RPM and valve lift range.
I suggest you hand port your #113 heads, and work them per the data I've sent you. Standard Abrasives has a kit and video as well as an informative site on head porting.
If you implement all the mods in the list you should have very close to 300 rwhp and it should be an excellent daily driver.
Re: L98 speed density affordable mods (Eduardo L98 1991)
I sent you e-mail with the "Corvette Fever “HP Conspiracy” Article Summary" data. It has data from two TPIS cams installed in a '90 L98. Their catalog suggests correct springs for each cam.
The install height and the spring factor determines the install pressure. You can get spring shims from Comp Cams or other cam manufacutrers. I'm running the stock cam so don't have any personal experience or data on cam selection.
