Any lemons out there that i should'nt buy? Anybody know other things i should replace wile im in there or other parts i need for this job besides a pump.or special tools (sorry,im replacing my fuel pump on my 93 40th ann. lt1)
Its pretty straight forward. The hardest part was getting the hoses off the part the runs into the tank.
Steps (from memory)
1.) Disconnect battery (make sure you dont take chances around gasoline)
2.) Take off the rear gas filler door with 4 star-head shaped screws
3.) Take out the rubber around the filler tube and now the gas tank and the fuel filter assembly top will be visible (be careful to not rip the rubber boot)
4.) Take off all of the hoses that connect to the top of the assembly (maybe hit the hoses with some wd40 the night before)
5.) Unscrew the bolts that hold the assembly to the tank and be careful because there is a gasket that would break up and fall into the tank
6.) There should also be an electrical connector that you need to disconnect too
7.) pull out the whole fuel pump assembly and get it on a workbench
8.) change out the fuel pump and fuel sock (the original sock was really tough to get off so I just ripped it up and tore it off)
9.) Thats pretty much it, take a pic of the fuel pump assembly so if you are a little confused putting the new pump in you have something to reference!
I think that is all, good luck!

thanx again guys I bought a delphi cause it was in stock at parts source for 135.00. stealership wanted 250.00 and 79.00 for the sock. I got one for 10.00 at wssl. Dealerships........what a joke!!!!!!
You don't need all that stuff. Just the 190 l/hr pump is fine. I think I paid $75 for the pump and install kit when they had a forum group buy over winter. Looks like it's $112 now. You get a new seal, bolts, etc. It's a good deal!

That's all you need.. Before you start pull the fuel pump fuse and let the car run till it dies. That is a good way to get all the fuel out of the lines. GL

I understand what you are saying but I would not buy a kit for $10 less than the entire assy. Which was my point.
I did the same job this afternoon. $90 for everything, half a beer's worth of time. it may have cleared a lean condition I have been having intermittently.
my PSI went from a steady 40PSI with the pump on and dropping to 0 with it off (bad chackvalve) to 48 on and 40 off.
