So I'm driving the other day and I hit the gas and it bogged out (never did that before). Hit it again and everything was fine. Next time bogged out again. When I got home, I heard a high pitched hummm coming from under the hood (even when I turned the car off) I tracked the noise down to the thing in the picture and unplugged the red connector, but the noise didn't stop??? Kept making noise for another 2-3 minutes before going away.
Anyone know what this piece is called? (It's an 88')
Canister Purge solenoid.
Vents the fumes held in the charcoal canister to the engine
Controlled by the ECM
IIRC ;the solenoid is operated by going to ground at the ECM ; maybe the wire is to ground somewhere so solenoid is on full time?
